UPJ and Ureteral Obstruction describes a blockage in the urinary tract, either where the kidney meets its draining tube (ureteropelvic junction, or UPJ) or along the ureter itself. This prevents urine from flowing normally, potentially causing pain, infection, or kidney swelling. Causes can be congenital or due to kidney stones, scar tissue, or other factors. Treatments focus on restoring urine flow to protect kidney health, often via simple procedures.
